Hamid Karzai Reacts to Afghanistan’s Payment to Victims of 9/11

Former Afghan President Hamid Karzai today (Sunday, February, 13, 2022) at a press conference in Kabul called on US President Joe Biden to change his mind about the Afghan currency.

He said: “Neither the government of my time, nor the government of Ghani, nor the current government owns this money, but the people of Afghanistan own this money; The same people that America itself has admitted to being victims of terrorism.

Mr. Karzai also referred to the US seizure of Afghan money by the United States and said that Osama bin Laden had been killed in Pakistan; But today our people are paying the price. According to him, the Afghan people are as much victims of terrorism as the American people

He added that the United States should not give money from the Afghan people to the victims of the 9/11 attacks. He said President Biden should reconsider his decision and return all Afghan money to the people of the country.

An executive order from the US President states that 3.5 billion dollars of frozen Afghan money will be allocated to the families of the victims of the 9/11 attacks.

Enamullah Samangani, deputy spokesman for the Islamic Emirate, told to Roidadha News that the Afghan government called the decision unjust and did not accept it. Samangani said the attack had nothing to do with Afghans. In a bad economic situation, the great oppressor is the right of the people of Afghanistan. But the people of Afghanistan and the government of Afghanistan are not calm in the face of this issue. They raise their voices.

Meanwhile, Khalid Payenda, the former Afghan finance minister, told the media that if Afghanistan’s foreign exchange reserves were paid to the victims of the 9/11 attacks, it would be the biggest and most irreparable blow to Afghanistan’s economy.

While, no Afghan citizen was involved in the 9/11 attacks in the United States.
