The head of the Afghan Red Crescent Society met with the British special representative
Sheikh Shahabuddin Delawar, the head of the Afghan Red Crescent Society, met with the British special representative at his office in Kabul. In this meeting, they exchanged views on supporting internally displaced families and refugees returning from abroad. Richard Lindsay, the British representative, promised that their assistance will continue for the people of Afghanistan. He emphasized fair treatment for all those in need. The head of the Afghan Red Crescent Society appreciated the British assistance and said that this organization is currently operating in seven zones of the country, in the departments of centers for the care and treatment of mental patients. According to Sheikh Shahabuddin Delawar, about 1,500 patients are being treated in these centers and some are receiving services at their homes. A special hospital is also operating to treat children with heart defects, where up to 2,000 children are treated annually. This is while the Red Crescent officials are asking charitable organizations to stay away from political issues and stand by the people of Afghanistan in terms of human values.
