A contract worth more than $46 million was signed to equip and standardize the country’s ports.
The National Standards and Quality Administration of the Islamic Emirate has signed a contract worth 46 million 348 thousand 292 US dollars with the “T.C.R.C” company, based on which advanced laboratory complexes will be built and equipped in the center and 9 important ports of the country. Faizullah Tamim, General Director of the Standards and Quality Administration, said today, Wednesday, at the signing ceremony of this contract at the media center that based on this agreement, the aforementioned company will establish and equip standard laboratories in the sectors of construction materials, electrical equipment and devices, textile, leather and paper industries in Kabul and 9 ports of the country over the next five years. He added that within the framework of this project, standard laboratory complexes will also be built in the ports and specialized training programs will be held for the employees of the Standards and Quality Administration. According to Tamim, the implementation of this project can play an important role in preventing the entry of low-quality goods into the country and pave the way for the import of high-quality and standard goods. The signing of the agreement comes at a time when quality control of imported goods remains a major challenge in Afghanistan. Traders and consumers have repeatedly expressed concerns over the import of substandard goods in recent years. Experts also believe that the lack of standard and well-equipped laboratories has led to many imported goods entering the market without accurate evaluation. According to them, the establishment of these complexes can strengthen the process of monitoring the quality of goods and increase confidence in the trade and market sectors.
