The spokesman for the Islamic Emirate has rejected the new report of the Russian Foreign Ministry on the presence of international terrorist groups in Afghanistan, saying that the information and sources provided in the report are incorrect.
On Tuesday, March 25, National Television published a report quoting Maulvi Zabihullah Mujahid, saying that Kabul does not accept such statistics and that no terrorist group is present or active in Afghanistan.
Mr. Mujahid said that Afghanistan has a “single sovereignty” and that foreign groups cannot operate in this country.
He also added that he regrets the sources in Russia that have published such figures.
According to the report of the Russian Foreign Ministry, in its new report, it has announced that the total number of fighters of international terrorist organizations in Afghanistan is estimated to be between 20,000 and 23,000, and more than half of them are foreign citizens, and the only group that is directly active against the Islamic Emirate is the Khorasan branch of ISIS. This report, however, has been repeatedly denied by Islamic Emirate officials, who say that ISIS has been suppressed in Afghanistan.
