Homayoun Afghan, spokesman for the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum, said that the construction of a cement factory in the Yatimtaq area of Jawzjan province will begin tomorrow (Monday) with an investment of 160 million US dollars.
He said that the factory will have a daily production capacity of 3,000 metric tons of cement and will provide direct and indirect employment for about 5,000 people.
In recent years, Afghanistan has been trying to increase domestic production of construction materials to reduce dependence on imports and increase job opportunities within the country.
Cement production is considered an important sector of industrial growth, and similar projects are being considered and implemented in different provinces.
