Daesh Claimed Responsibility for Kabul Airport Attacks

The Pentagon and U.S. officials say 13 U.S. military personnel were killed in a suicide bombing in Kabul today. The media reported new explosions. Daesh claimed responsibility for the attacks.

According to a report from ISNA quoted by Associated Press: Pentagon said in a statement that two suicide bombers targeted Kabul airport, killing 13 US soldiers and wounding 18 others. The blasts killed at least 60 Afghans

The Pentagon added, however, that the process of withdrawing from Afghanistan continues.

The commander of the US Central Command, Kenneth McKenzie, said in a statement that the two suicide bombers who carried out the attack were members of Daesh.

McKenzie continued, there were also shootings following the two Kabul bombings. He initially confirmed the death toll of 15 and 15 wounded in the US military.

Gen. McKenzie added: “I do not think the Taliban have allowed these attacks to take place, given their common goal with Washington on the issue of the withdrawal of US troops.”

“The United States is determined to respond to ISIS after these attacks,” McKenzie said. US forces have told the Taliban they need to expand their security belts.

According to the US commander, the possible threats near Kabul airport are rocket attacks and explosive bombs, and they are informing the Taliban.

“Despite the grief we feel over the loss of both Americans and Afghans, we continue to expel American and foreign nationals and visa holders and Afghans who are worried about their lives,” he said.

The commander-in-chief of America said at least 1,000 Americans were still in Afghanistan waiting to evacuation.

Earlier, two US officials said the attack had killed 10 to 12 US Army servicemen, including 11 Marines and a military doctor. They warned that the death toll could rise.

The attack killed 10 US Marines and wounded dozens more, Fox News reported, quoting the two US officials. There is a possibility of an increase in casualties.

A U.S. official also told Reuters that the death toll of 10 U.S. soldiers was a preliminary figure.
