Recently, UNICEF, the United Nations Children’s Fund, announced that it will begin the reconstruction of 165 schools in 9 provinces of Afghanistan in cooperation with Japan. This project includes the reconstruction and repair of buildings, the provision of some educational facilities, and the provision of a healthy learning environment for children. The aim of this measure is to provide an educational environment for children in deprived areas of Afghanistan. According to the organization’s report, the lack of appropriate educational infrastructure and the shortage of some teaching resources are among the main problems of Afghan schools in vulnerable areas.
This is while our country has been facing numerous problems in the education sector in recent years, mainly including the shortage of teachers, educational facilities, and standard buildings and repairs.
Afghanistan has been facing extensive problems in the field of education in recent years; from the lack of educational facilities to the damage to schools following various crises. International organizations, including UNICEF, have always tried to prevent children from being deprived of the right to education by implementing support programs. Rebuilding schools is considered a fundamental step in this direction and a factor in strengthening hope among Afghan families and children.
