Afghanistan’s trade with Pakistan halted

Recently, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, said that we will stop trade with Pakistan and that the government will not be held accountable for any trader who faces problems. He called on all traders to start trading with other countries and find alternative routes.
The aim of this decision is to protect the dignity of traders, support domestic products, and prevent waste of the country’s products. Mr. Baradar emphasized in a statement that Pakistan always uses political and unnecessary issues as a means of pressure and blocks trade routes. In addition to harming Afghan trade, these excuses have also damaged the country’s economic reputation and independence.
The statement also stated that restrictions have been imposed on the import of medicines from Pakistan and that taxes have been increased.
Economic experts, however, are concerned that this decision will cause economic pressure and increase prices in the country’s market. Because, according to them, Pakistan is the closest and largest market for Afghan products and imports.
